The method

Practise to remember.

  1. Recall

Think of the meaning. Flip the card and check.

  2. Try again

Difficult words reappear after other cards.

  3. Reviews with maths

FSRS estimates your recall and calculates when to revisit each word.

    D
    Difficulty
    S
    Stability
    R
    Recall
    How your review is calculated

FSRS updates each word's difficulty and stability from your answers. Its forgetting curve estimates the probability of recalling it:

    R
    Probability of recall.
    t
    Days since the last review.
    S
    Memory stability, in days.

    b defines the curve's shape; a = 0.9−1/b − 1.

The model's initial target is a 90% probability of recall. The app adds cautious memory to limit how far the next review is postponed.

Only the first attempt in a real review updates the schedule.
